Note; FOR HYPALON DINGHIES ONLY! Pre preparation – Lightly sandpaper the area on the dinghy sponson to be glued. This provides a slightly abraded matt finish key for the adhesive. (DO NOT sand PVC Dinghies!)

**Note; FOR PVC DINGHIES ONLY! Pre preparation – The back of the rubber pads will need to be primed with a thin layer of Hypalon adhesive before proceeding with instructions for using PVC adhesive.

Measure and Marking

1. Mark out the centre of both the Swim Platform or Transom and the Dinghy.
From the centre, measure out the widest distance that the Rubber Pads can be adhered to the Dinghy and the Davit Heads can be attached to the Swim Platform or Transom, taking into consideration any curve to the rear edge of the platform. Beware of support brackets underneath.

2. Mark out the shape of the Rubber Pad on dinghy sponson which should be at the top of the dinghy rubbing strip. Use masking tape around the outside of the outline to avoid gluing where not needed.

3. Mark out the Davit Head centre line and base plate holes. Later, when the pads are fixed, check again the position of the base plate and mark the holes ready for drilling.
TIP; if doing this on the water, secure your Insta-lock items to a rail with string to avoid dropping them in!
Note; Extended davit heads are available to accommodate large curves or obstacles such as Swim Ladders.

4. FOR HYPALON DINGHIES ONLY! Lightly sandpaper the area on the dinghy sponson to be glued. This provides a slightly abraded matt finish key for the adhesive. (DO NOT sand PVC Dinghies!)

5. Lightly sandpaper the back of the Rubber Pads to provides a slightly abraded matt finish key for the adhesive primer coat using Hypalon Adhesive.

6. Clean the surface of the PVC or Hypalon inflatable with the Solvent Cleaner to remove any trace of finger oils or dust.

Fixing the Pads continued

8. Using the short bristled brush, the 2 part Adhesive (mixed as per the instructions) should now be applied in a thin coat to both the Pads and The Dinghy Sponson. Let the adhesive set until the surface is no longer tacky to the touch a minimum of 45 minutes.

9. Apply a second thin layer of adhesive and let set again until the surface is tacky to the touch. At this point the ‘Contact Adhesive’ is ready.

10. With care align and attach the pad to the inflatable

11. Rub the air out from under the pad using a hard roller or rounded stick. You may want to deflate the boat to assure a better bond for the pad. It is critical to get all the air out from between the pad and the inflatable and the pad is sealed around the edges.

12. Curing time. Once the air is out from under the pad, let the pad cure for 48 hours. DO NOT TOUCH IT!

13. After 48 hours attach the Stainless Steel Bar with the 20mm long hex head bolts. A little grease on the bolt will help keep the threads clean.

The Adhesive will be 100% cured in 7 days.

Install the davit heads.

14. Snap the Davit Heads onto the Dinghy Pad Bars and align the dinghy to the swimming platform. Align the davit head with the previous marked base plate positions. Make any necessary adjustment then mark and drill the holes for the ‘first’ Davit Head only. Insert the 50mm long bolts provided (or longer ones as necessary) through the holes and secure the davit head from under the swim platform with the nuts provided.

With the first Davit Head hooked on to the Dinghy Pad Bar, align the ‘second’ davit head. Make any necessary adjustment then mark and drill the holes for the ‘second’ Davit Head ensuring good alignment with the second Pad and Bar. Finally insert the bolts secure the Davit head. Check and tighten all the nuts and bolts.
